THE CHARACTER
Matthew Williams / Canada Application Untitled-1

Name: Matthew Williams
Age: nineteen going on twenty somewhere in that area
Hometown: London, Ontario if the timeframe allows it?

Appearance: This guy is average height with an average weight with an average face. He is blessed with not being a total fatty despite devouring the cheap ice cream he buys while shopping for groceries. His shoulders are broad and more defined when Matthew is standing upright. Matthew's blond hair is rather wavy despite being kept short, one strand of hair refusing to cooperate with his brush and insisting to stick out in front of his face. The eyes hidden behind his round shaped glasses are an interesting shade of indigo. Yes, this guy looks in the mirror every morning to make sure he looks cool.

Matthew usually wears a teal hoodie whenever the weather allows him to, that particular piece of clothing only being the regular. He dresses what he deems as 'decent' most of the time, that including cargo pants, plain t-shirts, and worn out sneakers. Clothes are not all that of importance to him, but he is not the sort to try to run around naked. When it gets to where he does not do laundry, Matthew pulls out his khaki pants which he refers to as his 'nice'. Collared shirts are the same way and are usually hidden in the back of his closet.

Personality: Being kind does not exactly get one anywhere they would like to be in the world. Matthew is a soft spoken individual who tries to be kind to people in means to not get hurt and make a weak attempt at making friends. With being rather timid, having comrades is something relative to almost impossibe for Matthew-- who talks to a cactus at night. The guy is simply not all that noticeable and has a lot of free time on his hands. However, while he is not the loudest moron on the face of the planet, he most certainly has his own opinions that he will defend if it is on a serious note. He is going to try to go around that sort of thing, mind you.

He usually sleeps in despite not particularly enjoying it and taking the time to plan out so he avoids such, not wanting it to interfere with his work. Matthew is not a slacker, trying to pull his own weight and adjust himself to the best of his ability as his job requires. There are a few other things besides the janitor business that takes up his time, such as dog walking; as much as Matthew wants a dog, his current situation is not allowing him one (but this a tangent.) Working is not particularly fun for Matthew, but money is nice to have and he has currently realised that money is a key to running this whole living gig he has going on.

To make matters worse, he does more of what he dies not like as opposed to what he does like. As much as he enjoys sitting around and stuffing his face with food to only then walk it off later, Matthew does not have the time or the energy to do such things. He feels, however, that with all the work he is doing that someday he will be able to go to school and his prince will come and give him a clean pair of scocks. As a quick note, he is not living in a box-- he simply wants to have hobbies. And his only hobby he has time for is to admire his cactus that sits on the windowsill of his room. While it cannot do tricks, it does not need to be taken out to use the bathroom and it listens to Matthew's problems.

Some day soon, Matthew would like to go camping. Or maybe a trip on Titanic. Matthew had grown to enjoy being outside as the pathetic child he once was, having fallen face first into snow and being soaked by the rain. While he has no future plans to go all wild, Matthew would just like to be able to do nice things. For now, he can only enjoy walking to work; the sucker is not able to drive and refuses to take a bus.

Likes:
  • Being outdoors, because, well, it's a peaceful and happy place to be. Unless it is on fire or blowing up.
  • Hockey. Ice hockey. It is not a dream of his to play in the NHL, but he would like to go see a game...
  • Box Lacrosse. As opposed to regular lacrosse? Lacrosse, really. Yeah.
  • Some video games-- mostly the NHL ones.
  • Writing and reading. Or at least pretending to be able to.
  • Poutine, Nanaimo bars, ice cream, food.
  • His pet cactus.
  • Pot.

Dislikes:
  • People who chew gum and stick it under seats.
  • People who are assholes of the world.
  • Arguing, fighting, ect,.
  • Being mistaken for an empty seat.
  • Oversleeping.

Job: Janitor
Experience: He has watched a few Disney films, only to learn that animals really will not help clean up. There was also the kitchen floor that never seemed to be clean when he was living with his mother.
Extra details: There are a few other jobs Matthew is trying to keep intact so he could possibly attend university and actually make something of himself. Unless he is magically picked up from being a janitor to a script writer by his fairy godmother, he would make no complaints.

Brief History:
One upon a time, Matthew was born. While his childhood was not terrible and he was fed, there were times when he was forgotten in his carseat and he forced himself to learn the alphabet on his own. He did anything a normal child did; going to school, eating dirt, and reading books with huge print was a simple way of life for Matthew. It was not too long before he was barely coherent in a second language when loving mother and hateful father soon were divorced. Part of it did not matter while he was still being abandoned in the carseat that was too small for him after he had moved from the old setting he once lived in.

With life moving on, Matthew had faced puberty and accepted the fact that he was a male who was probably doomed to go to Hell (whatever that was.) He was that kid that stayed out of trouble, out of people's business, and did his homework, leaving classmates to ask themselves every class when the new student showed up. Matthew did play sports for a year during secondary school, but never quite adjusted to the fact that he was a coat of paint on the wall. Despite all the negativity the reader may be thinking right now, there were no suicides in the making of this guy's life-- or any attempts. Clearly. Or he would not be where he happens to be at the moment.

After graduation, there was that new sense of doom. He was only working a couple part time jobs and making sure ends meet so his mother would not drop dead to the floor. He would not be willing to take a harmful chance of abandoning her entirely while she was still breathing at least every other minute during the day. At the same time, he is working and saving so he will be able to attend The University of Western Ontario or any school that would be willing to take him. Only, that is not going to happen quite right now.

New York City was not entirely like he had seen in the movies. Who knew it was as dirty as it happened to be? It was only late morning and Matthew reckoned he had already seen all he needed to see. It was only moments ago he was more confident about the exploration he decided to take on. But not only was he was prepared, it was actually proven he was not...as prepared. Not that he was angry, the Canadian was simply left a tad defeated.

Simply a half an hour previous to what sort of nonexistent situation he happened to be in, Matthew had finished printing off directions to an ice rink. There was no shame to take the time to have some fun on a Saturday, he supposed, and had left his room with everything on him. Directions, keys, skates, directions. Matthew had to pat his jacket pockets a few times as he slowly walked down the hall, just to make sure he had not messed himself up and either; a. locked himself out of his room, b. wonder why he was lacking a weight on his shoulder, and c. that he had not tucked his directions in the wrong pocket by some odd chance.

He was ready.

Despite having made it outside, Matthew had to reach around himself one more time just to make sure he had not done something stupid. He only then pulled his directions out when he was on the sidewalk, glancing to his left and right before deciding one way was west and whatever else. The guy was on his way. If this all turned out right, he was to treat himself to some hot cocoa or something of the like.

His hair curled up against his ears as he walked, giving him a reason to stop. He held the directions with one hand, tugging at his beanie to pull it past his ears. Useless thing. What good would it do if it could not stand to just a bit of wind? Matthew continued to walk, luckily going in direction in which the occasional breezes were going, bringing a hand up to his mouth to hide a yawn.

His hat proved to be useless again. Who knew a simple tiny gust of wind held such amazing power?

Soon Matthew's hat was off and tumbling down, getting Matthew to jump. It was only natural for him to follow after it as it moved across the sidewalk, teasing the blond. It had plenty of his attention, which was enough to have him forget of the paper that he had gripped in his hand. The paper decided that it also wanted to join in the chase, slipping out of Matthew's hand just as soon as he grabbed at his hat.

"H...Hey, come back!"

It did not really hit Matthew that he was talking to something that was not able to talk back as he followed behind the directions. The paper, compared to his hat, was going to be rather daring. It was difficult with people being more frequent with stepping past Matthew, as though he had reached a harder level of a game. With the wind changing directions, it too decided to play a trick. In no time at all, it was in the street, getting Matthew to stop at the edge of the sidewalk. The skate flung behind his skate had whacked him in the back, almost to scold him for being such an idiot.

He thoughtlessly placed a hand on the skate that wrested in front of him and he turned away, stepping away from the curb. Well, now he had to go back and reprint those directions.
